Today’s world is a world of competition. To go through this world successfully one must have thorough knowledge of Computer. There is a revolution in the field of information. Knowledge is changing fast at every moment. Therefore in our day-to-day life, there is need of information technology and technical knowledge etc. For this purpose knowledge of computer is very essential. For rural students, it is not possible for them to go to city and learn computer. |

The idea is to introduce Computer Application to rural areas especially those who are backward and illiterate. This itself is an innovative idea. This advanced Technology will be developed to use even by illiterate and old by introducing innovative Computer Application Programme with new designs and appropriate software. |

Unit -I : Computer Fundamentals |
- Introduction to Computer - Definition of Electronic Digital Computers and their characteristics like
speed, Accuracy, storage, diligence, automation and versatility, structure of computer Block Diagram.
- Importance of Computer, types of Computer - Micro, Mini, mainframe, Super Computers, Functional difference between various types of microprocessors, INTEL 486, 586, Pentium, Centralized, Decentralized Duel core, Distributed computer system, General concept of interrupts, multitasking Multiprogramming, Multiprocessing.

Unit - II : Representation of Data |
- Binary Number System, conversion from Binary to Decimal and Decimal to Binary system, ASCII Code, Word and word size.
- Concept of data processing and computer files, Algorithms, Flowcharts, Looping, Data processing concepts.

Unit - III : Hardware |
- Definition of hardware/Software, Classification of software, Application of system software, High level and low level language, comparative study of interpreters and compilers source code and object code.
- Input/output Devices : VDU, Keyboard, Scanner, Printers, Plotters, Mouse, Modem, Modulation and Demodulation, study of various categories of printers.

Unit - IV : Secondary storage Devices |
- Tapes, Floppy Disk, Hard Disks, Zip Disk, CD-ROM Disk, cartridge, back tapes, DVD-Writer, Pen Drive, Definition of tracks, sectors, clusters, magnetic recording technology, quick access method.
- Disk operating system (DOS), Study of ROM-BIOS, The process of booting (post, intialise, booting) system area of disk (boot sector, fat, root directory), data area of disk, use and importance of autoexec, bat file and config.sys file, type and needs of formatting.

Unit- V : The windows environment : |
- Structure of simple Window, exploring the desktop, the start button, My computer, Using help, tax bar, working with multiple windows, printing documents, menus, dialog boxes, icons views, and switching views, maximizing, minimizing, restoring, resiing, moving, closing window, parent and child window creating Icons/shortcuts.
- Accessories : Notepad, wordpad, paint, character map, clipboard, viewer, Mediaplayer, Phone Dialer, calculator, fundamentals of bad sectors, cross linked files, lost file fragments, using scandisk, disk properties, disk clean up, system file checker.
- Customizing windows: setting colour, Patterns, wall papers, and screen savers, date and time, keyboard, Mouse-setting.
- Managing files and Folders, : Using windows explorer, copy and moving files and folders, Using the recyclebin, creating and renaming files and folders, finding files and folders, opening Documents, viewing hidden files, file properties.

Unit - I : PageMaker 6.5 or above. |
Introduction of PageMaker, entering page set up specification, setting preferences, working with pages, Master page setting, using style, saving the PageMaker file as templates sheets. |
Unit-II : |
Brief introduction of various tools in toolbox, Typing text in layout view, moving and sizing text blocks, editing of text, define paragraph formats, pasting graphics from clip board, imported graphics create in other program, building of templates, creating multiple columns documents, using drop-cap, bullets and numbering in PageMaker. |
Unit - III : Corel Draw 8 or above : |
Advantages of Coral Draw difference between bitmap and Vector based image, Definition of work area, Drawing area, rules, grids, guidelines and toolbox, Drawing objects using tools in toolbox -Polygon, rectangle, ellipse, free hand lines, artistic media tools, and nodes editing options. |
Unit-IV : Applying various fill effects |
interactive fill, mesh, transparency tools, paint bucket tools etc., Giving various effect to drawing: interactive contour, blend, distort, envelope, 3D extrude, shadow etc., other shape, zoom tools, adding /removing of toolbars. Entering Page setup specification, grids, and ruler setting. Inserting pages, deleting and renaming pages, changing page orientation, For paragraph text, arrange the object in proper order. 3D -effect inserting symbols, logo, color management, using Coral scripts bitmap effects, using style sheets, printing the Page (s), creating different signs, borders, saving the setting using template, acquiring images from scanner in Coral Draw and internet sites. |
Unit - V : Photoshop 5.0 or above: |
Use of Photoshop - detailed introduction of various tools used in tool bar, selection tools and its techniques, drawing the shapes using brush tools, special effects of tools, Applying various fill effects using the various options, creating the brushes and layers, Arranging and linking the layer, hiding deleting and merging of layers, Applying special effects to layers such as Shadow, bevel Emboss, Creating and modifying the border, Changes Image Modes, The select objects, Saving the files in new formats, Converting the file to gif, tif, bmp. Importing the graphics from scanner, retouching of images and Photographs. |
